Jean-Claude, the Video Game Developer

Hello people of the Internet!

My name is Jean-Claude. First of all, I'd like to say that I love video games! My favourite game is World of Warcraft, but I also play Minecraft, Assassin's Creed and Happy Wheels.

I work at Ubisoft developing games. Ubisoft is the company that created the famous game Assassin's Creed.   I am skilled in different fields, so at my job, instead of working at only one task, I do many. I invent characters, backgrounds for games, and basically the main look of the game. My creativity helps me a lot in this.

I am very skilled in math - thus I write the codes for games that allow everything to run smoothly.

I like to think I am very creative. This is why I develop new stories. I love to think of deadly situations characters could be in.

I have to keep up with pop culture and current video games to please crowds and know what they are looking for.

I am a very active person, so sitting in front of my computer screen all day isn't always the best.

I love to socialize and interact with new people, so the fact that I work with a large team of professionals is a plus to my job. I work with musicians and designers and stunt doubles when we create a new game.

One thing I don't like about my job is that sometimes we have strict deadlines, so I have a lot of stress.

To get to where I am today, I had to go to school for a long time, but that's okay because since I was little and played on my Nintendo 64 I knew I wanted to be a game developer.

I had to go into high math all the time, because to develop the codes for the games I solve complex equations. There is a lot of trial and error involved in my job, so I am blessed to be a very patient person.

I majored in Computer Science at Laval University.

Well, friends, that's all the time I have today!!!

Have a nice day,

Jean-Claude

Ngon Thuy, the Nail Artist

Hello,

My name Ngon Thuy. It mean good communicator and friendly.

I moved to United States 2 years ago. I wanted better life than in Vietnam. When I got here, I go to high school and finish my diploma. I easily got job at nail salon and started training for 3 months and became the best!

I work at the nail salon "Beautiful Nail" down the street.
I take care of people's nails and make them pretty. I like try new designs on nails even when people do not ask for them. I am very creative person.

I paint, clip, file nails, apply fake nails, and also massage feet and hands.
My favourite part of the job is when I get to apply glitter. It is so pretty.

I like to chat with clients and make them laugh. This is one of my favourite part of job, talking with people. I think they don't understand my humor though, because they always laugh a fake laugh.
My boss say I talk too much, but I only want clients to have fun experience. It not my fault if I am a people person!

At job, I sit for long periods of time, in crouched position. Because of this, my back hurt very much. I have back pains very often. I am lucky though, to have very good hands because I use them all day.

I have to be very patient because clients sometimes don't like manicure and I have to start over.

Sometimes I worry about disease I could catch from other client when I touch their feet and hands, that is why I wear gloves and always wash my hands.

I am very lucky to be nail artist in States instead of sit at home all day in Vietnam.

Have a good day, and take care of your nails!

Ngon Thuy xxx

Tom the Cupcake Artist

Hey guys, my name's Tom.

I love my job because it beats the stereotype that baking is only for women. I'm a tough guy and I love making cupcakes! I have my own shop in a little street called "Tom's Treats".

Even though my job doesn't require any formal prerequisites, I like it because I get to use my amazing math skills - I have to calculate ingredients on a daily basis.

I measure and prepare my ingredients the night before I make my cupcakes. On a cupcake day, which is every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, I gather all my ingredients and bake some magic! On Fridays, I like to relax a little, so that's when I go back to the drawing board and invent some new recipes. That doesn't mean though that I won't have some fancy cupcakes in the oven!

One downside to my job is that I'm a t-shirt and jeans kinda guy- but it is a requirement for me to wear a uniform. I don't have a lot of hair on my head, so it's not necessary for me to wear a hairnet.

I have a quite decent salary of $18. It might not sound like much, but I'm a pretty simple guy and I don't have a girlfriend to provide to...but that's okay, a lot of women frequent my shop ;)

After high school, I attended a culinary institute to learn how to cook and bake. I specialized in cupcakes, because not only are they cute, they are individual and smaller, so it means that you can try a lot of different flavours!

I also take custom orders and sometimes get asked to take my cupcakes to birthday parties.

I like to frost cupcakes the best. I like to make the craziest designs and combine awesome flavours!

My job is always different, and that's what I like about it! :)

Here are some of my creations!

Have a wonderful day,
Tom.

Bob the Dentist :D

Hello everyone!

My name is Robert, but Bob for short. I have my own business as a dentist next to the sweet shop. It's quite ironic, but I could not find a better location.

At my job, there is always a new situation, and that is exactly what I like about it. Sometimes I simply examine people's teeth and gums for their bi-yearly checkup, sometimes I fill cavities...and on good days, I remove teeth!

At the end of each appointment, it is my duty to give my patients advice on how to prevent certain dental issues, like how to prevent tartar buildup.

It is important for me to use my communication and people skills, because I need to make my patients feel at ease when I am all up in their mouth. They need to have trust in me in order to be comfortable with me drilling and digging.

I also need to be able to calm people down in stressful situations. Sometimes people are scared of dentists, but I always try my best to convince them that dentists are good people!

The only issue with my job is that some people have very poor dental health, and quite often bad breath. It is a pain to work with a dirty mouth, but I must.

I work 7 or 8 hours a day, 5 days a week - my work hours are usually the same.

After I graduated from university, I spent 4 years in dental school learning all about teeth.

I like my job a lot, not only because it pays a lot but because I get to see different people everyday, and well some situations are very challenging. I always work my way past them though :)
I suggest anyone who likes to talk to people and likes teeth to do just like me and become a dentist.

Take care, Bob

This is my favourite patient, Jimmy.

Mike the Border Inspector

Hello, my name is Mike, and I am a border patrol agent at the American border.

To some travelers, I might seem like a hassle to go through, but really my job's purpose is to ensure everyone's security, especially that of my country.

At my job, every day is different - some days are busy, while others are very quiet. Every situation is different.

My job consists of questioning people and examining them. It is my duty to ask where they come from, where they are going, for what purpose and for how long. I also must inspect their baggage and vehicle. This can sometimes be tricky because people get easily offended if I inspect them. The thing is, this is my job and I truly care about our safety.

Once I am done my inspection, the travelers hand me their passports and I scan them through the machine at the station. I have to make sure that these are in fact real passports, and that the portraits resemble the people in the vehicle.

After that, they are free to go and my job as a border inspector is done.

My job entitles me to a burden of responsibility. If I allow foreigners in our country that end up harming the law, it is technically my fault.

I work under any weather and honestly, sometimes I get a little scared because I never know what kind of person I will encounter.

What's nice about my job, though, is that I work 40-hour weeks and I get to travel sometimes because I often get relocated.

I am very thankful to have been hired before 9/11, because at that point, several agents were hired. Now, since we have plenty of inspectors, the hiring is very slow and infrequent.

I was hired when I was 20 years old. The most important requirement of my job is to be a U.S. citizen.
I went to high school, did a technical training and then went to university. When I applied for my job I had to complete a series of tests on my health and my aptitudes. After that was completed, I went to the Border Patrol Academy - where I learned how to use firearms, be authoritative, and Spanish. Students who already were fluent in Spanish could leave the academy after 55 days, but it took me 94.

All in all,

I am glad that I have a job that is so important for my country. I like knowing that I can make a difference.

Mike

Jim the Bank Manager

Hello,

My name is Jim.

I am blessed to have found a career that is perfectly suited for my skills and abilities. Ever since I was little, I have been very good with numbers - I was always at the top of my math class.

I am also very skilled with my people skills, because I love socializing and meeting new people. One of my mottos is "The more the merrier."

In my daily life, I don't actually deal with money that much. That is what the cashiers do. My job consists of being the boss of all of my employees. I make sure that all of my employees are comfortable with all they have to do, and that they understand all of our procedures and rules. I value having a good relationship with my employees, because who would want to work somewhere where they despise their boss?

I also try to attract new customers to my bank, like teenagers for example. Most teens don't know much about money, so my aim is to explain to them clearly and to not sugar coat things, in order for them to have a a clear vision of their future. I always try to make our advertisements fun and youthful, so that they will be attracted to them.

I love my job, but it is quite stressful. During the holidays, people travel a lot and often need to change their currency. This time is always stressful because our customers are in a rush as well, but we always try to make it work.

Thank goodness I have a very comfortable and spacious office! I wouldn't be able to do it without my lavish leather chair.

Have a wonderful day,

Jim

One day I would like to visit India to learn more about its economy.
