My name is Robert, but Bob for short. I have my own business as a dentist next to the sweet shop. It's quite ironic, but I could not find a better location.
At my job, there is always a new situation, and that is exactly what I like about it. Sometimes I simply examine people's teeth and gums for their bi-yearly checkup, sometimes I fill cavities...and on good days, I remove teeth!
At the end of each appointment, it is my duty to give my patients advice on how to prevent certain dental issues, like how to prevent tartar buildup.
It is important for me to use my communication and people skills, because I need to make my patients feel at ease when I am all up in their mouth. They need to have trust in me in order to be comfortable with me drilling and digging.
I also need to be able to calm people down in stressful situations. Sometimes people are scared of dentists, but I always try my best to convince them that dentists are good people!
The only issue with my job is that some people have very poor dental health, and quite often bad breath. It is a pain to work with a dirty mouth, but I must.
I work 7 or 8 hours a day, 5 days a week - my work hours are usually the same.
After I graduated from university, I spent 4 years in dental school learning all about teeth.
I like my job a lot, not only because it pays a lot but because I get to see different people everyday, and well some situations are very challenging. I always work my way past them though :)
I suggest anyone who likes to talk to people and likes teeth to do just like me and become a dentist.
