Zachary the Truck Driver

Hey guys,

My name's Zachary. I've been a truck driver for the past 16 years - when my daughter Ashley was born. I got a job because I wanted to provide for my family. Before then, my income consisted of my inheritance, but my older brother suggested I get a job and learn what it's like to work. Thank you Tyrone for your wonderful advice!

I like my job a lot because I love to drive - I have a passion for vehicles. I am very well coordinated (I have good body skills) so driving is quite easy for me.

I wouldn't be able to make it without my signature Venti Mocha Espresso with two sugars from Starbucks. I have to travel long distances, so, unfortunately for my health, caffeine is my best friend.

If there's one thing I don't like about my job, it's the fact that I have to sit all day (and all night). I sometimes get back aches and shoulder pain, but nothing a visit to Cindy's office, my masseuse can't fix! ;)

I like being a truck driver because my truck is my little sanctuary. I get to spend some time by myself and think to myself, alone with my thoughts. I think that I need this, because I can be a very introverted person.

My favourite part of the job is playing tetris with the packages! I have to make sure that they all fit well and that they are secure during the transportation. Sometimes I like arranging the parcels by colour. It looks better that way. You can say I'm a a perfectionist.

The only boring part about my job is when I have to fill out paperwork about the shipping and delivery. I don't like writing very much, but it has to be done.

I don't mind being stuck in traffic, because I often have my music playing and I can jam out to my favourite tunes.

Well, that's it for today guys, gotta go drive to Mississippi!

Kevin the Zoologist

Hey guys, I'm Kevin. I'm from Australia.

I'm a zoologist. I picked my job because I love animals. I like to observe them, and imagine a day in their lives.

As a zoologist, I study animals in their natural habitat. This means that I travel internationally quite often. My favourite location is definitely South Africa. There, I see animals such as elephants, lions (my favourite animal), giraffes and hippos.

I love to visit animals' natural habitats because we truly get to see what they are like in the wild, as opposed to living in captivity.

I think that the most important trait in being a zoologist is patience. Without patience, you can't go anywhere. The animals won't always be friendly, and they can't possibly know that you want to observe them, so that is why they don't always notice you and you have to wait for them to come to you.

I love the fact that my job is usually outdoors, as I am a very active and outdoorsy person. The only downside to this is that being in the wild can be dangerous - because of the animals, but also due to venomous plants.

To get to where I am today, not only did I need to go to school to earn a PhD in zoology, but it is important for a zoology to like animals. This is obvious, but some people get into zoology without really knowing this. Growing up in Australia, I liked being around animals and exploring the forest with my grandfather. I think that his fondness of the wild and animals influenced me, and I decided as a young boy that I wanted to work with animals all my life.

I believe that my great interest in animals, my outstanding patience, and my good communication skills all work for me as a zoologist.

Thank you,

Kevin

Amy the Retail Buyer

Hello everyone,

my name is Amy, and I love to shop. That is why I believe that my job as retail buyer is perfect for me.

As the name implies, my job consists of buying. I select goods to buy for specific companies. My area of expertise is clothes, because that is my favourite thing to buy. I work for a department store in my local mall. I have to keep an eye out for trends and try my best to meet people's interests, because my decisions as buyer directly affect the store's sales. I must make sure to buy merchandise that will be sold.

I think that one of my qualities is how observant I am. When I see a new trend coming in and an old one going out of style, I take note of this in my black notebook I carry everywhere. This helps a lot for my job because what I buy for the store is affected by my observations.

One thing I like about my job is that I get to travel. Since my job is related to fashion, I get to visit famous fashion capitals, such as Paris, Milan, London and New York. I also work with different people everyday, which is something I enjoy, because I am a very extroverted person. I think that my great communication skills are a bonus for this job.

I can choose to either order the merchandise online or go to the stores myself, which is what I prefer doing because I love to be able to see the product myself.

I also enjoy the fact that I get free clothes as bonuses every once in a while.

I have to go make an order, see you later!

João the Clothing Manufacturer

Hello everyone, my name is João. I am of Portuguese decent, and I work at a clothing factory. I am a clothing manufacturer.

My job consists of looking over the whole manufacturing process. I work in a little office overlooking the factory, but I also spend my time downstairs (at the factory) making sure my employees are on task and know what they have to do. At my computer, in my office, I spend most of my time answering calls from stores requesting our products. Then, when the order has been placed, I have to arrange the expedition. When will we ship the order? How long will it take to get to its destination? Which mail provider will we use? These are all questions I answer. I also buy supplies such as thread and fabric. I always make sure to buy the best quality available, but also at an affordable price, because I believe that's what our clothing line should be:  fabulous, at great prices!

If I had a wife, I bet she would say I'm a workaholic. I love my job. I work 10-12 hours a day, and sometimes even 14. I work on the weekends too! I love the fact that at my job, I get to use my outstanding communication skills - I talk with my employees, people on the phone, such as salespeople, fashion designers, retail clients... plus, I get to travel a lot because of my job! I get to meet even more people!

I love this job because I love clothing. I love to see a piece of fabric and visualize what it will look like as a finished product and that's a great asset to have for my job.

At my factory, I believe that everyone should have a place and feel welcome. Even if you put the needles in the machines, you should be able to provide ideas for new products! Leather socks? Why not?

I believe that my great communication skills, my hand-eye coordination, and my ability to view finished products is truly a benefit for my job.

I recommend this job to anyone who likes fashion but has realistic goals...let's face it, not everyone can become a fashion designer...

And with this, I say, goodbye people of the world, and I hope to do business with you soon.

Slapperjack, the Crime Scene Investigator

Hey guys.

My name is Jack, but I'm known by Slapperjack. All my friends say that I have a face they would like to slap because I'm not very pleasant.

My current occupation is a crime scene investigator. I think this job suits me like a glove (see what I did there) because I am very patient and observant. I love to solve puzzles, and I get to do so on a daily basis.

My communication and problem-solving skills are quite high, which is why I have an advantage at my job.

Two tasks involved in my career include observing crime scenes and analyzing fingerprints. I always have one goal in mind: find evidence. Without precious evidence, crimes cannot be solved.

I travel to various locations to investigate crime scenes. I love to put the yellow caution tape around crime scenes; it makes me feel important.

I must say, this job will do no good to someone sensitive. I have witnessed horrifying scenes. If I weren't so brave, I most likely would not be able to work as a forensics investigator.

The field in which I work in is very competitive. I rely on my cellular device, because this is how I am reached by my boss when I am out and about frolicking in Miami. My boss, Mr. Jenkins, will call me when he needs a detective for the latest crime scene. I get many calls per day, because I am the best CSI. Like I said, my job is very competitive. Not everyone gets to answer 20 calls per day. Only I do.

I love my job, because I get to do what I love most - be in charge and solve puzzles.

The only disadvantage to my job is that I live a very busy lifestyle - I am always on the run. I also must stay in Miami quite often, because what would happen if I was out of the state when my boss needed me? He would call the next crime scene investigator, and I would lose my status as top CSI. We don't want that, now do we?

In conclusion, I would like to say that I love my job. I breathe crime scene investigation. I cannot picture myself doing anything else. I would also like to leave my number in case you need someone to snoop around ;) Here it is: 956-356-0976

Here is a look at my briefcase. Consider yourself lucky, I rarely show others.
