Hello,
my name is Emily
I am 25 and work at the local library.
I chose this job because literature fascinates me, thus I majored in English Literature. I also love reading. I guess I am a very introverted person, because I prefer to spend time by myself rather than with groups of people.
As a student, I am at ease with linguistics and my musical skills. However, I am not in touch with my number smart side.
At my job, I get to talk with people a lot (although the library should always be quiet) and discuss books. My main task, though, consists of developing and managing the library's inventory. I like to keep up with new books and read them before actually ordering them for the library. I try to make sure that the books we have to offer are actually worth having on display and that people will read them. Quite often, certain books are so popular that I must order several copies of the same books.
I also have to classify books into different categories in order for them to be easy to find for the public.
However, I still help people find books because it's not always easy for everyone to find what they are looking for.
To get my job, I required a master's degree in library studies, which took me two years to complete.
Overall, I am quite glad to have landed a job where I get to work with things I love, which, in my case, is books.
Greetings,
Emily
